The Scientific Research Institute of Maritime and Space Law continues to expand its cooperation with young scholars, integrating the most relevant academic developments into its scientific and practical activities.
The Institute’s Commission has drawn up an official act confirming the implementation of the results of Roksolana Kalyn’s dissertation titled “Legal Regulation of the Protection of Performers’ Rights to the Result of Creative Activity in Ukraine”, submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Law (specialty 081 – Law).
Roksolana Kalyn’s research demonstrates a high theoretical level and strong practical significance. Its findings have direct application in the development of legal mechanisms for the protection of intellectual property, cultural policy, and performers’ related rights.
During the review, the Commission noted that several provisions of the dissertation have already been applied in the Institute’s research work, in particular:
improving the legal framework for collective management in the field of related rights;
analyzing the implementation of performers’ rights in the digital environment within the context of European integration processes;
developing recommendations for harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with EU acts, including Directive 2001/29/EC and the WIPO WPPT Treaty;
preparing scientific and methodological materials on public administration of performers’ rights protection in the context of state cultural policy.
Conclusion: the results of Roksolana Kalyn’s dissertation have been recognized as successfully implemented into the scientific activity of the Institute, particularly in the areas of intellectual property law and administrative regulation of the cultural sector.
As emphasized by the Institute’s Deputy Director, Candidate of Juridical Sciences Artem Pedan, “The work of young researchers such as Roksolana Kalyn makes a significant contribution to strengthening the academic potential of our Institute and to the development of a modern legal framework for the protection of intellectual and related rights in Ukraine.”
